The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) recently held their first familiarisation trip in two years, which saw the attendance of 43 MICE stakeholders from 14 countries, and one special administrative region. Over the seven days, the event provided delegates with an immersive experience of Thailand’s unique MICE capabilities, including the best that Phuket and Bangkok had to offer for the full range of business events, spanning its world-class facilities, services, and cuisine.

The FAM trip, which had an itinerary of diverse activities and events, clearly demonstrated that Thailand is ready to welcome back MICE travellers. This readiness is present in many areas. In addition to stringent hygiene protocols and a glimpse at the Kingdom’s top-tier facilities, the trip was an opportunity for Thailand to showcase their strict adherence to global calls for sustainable event management policies, as seen most clearly in the event’s ‘Embrace of Thai Night’ farewell party that put focus on planting trees to mitigate CO2 emissions.

Amongst the attendees, Bangkok remains the top ranking for M&I destinations in Thailand, followed by Phuket and Chiang Mai. With an overwhelming 100 percent satisfaction rate from all delegates, some of them shared with us their feelings about Thailand.

“Thailand is ready. I am very much comfortable to share with my clients that they should come to Thailand. For the fact that Thailand gives you the mental comfort that you do not feel that they are in the COVID situation at all. They have all the safety measures ready for you.”

Ms. Felicia Teng, General Manager & Owner, The Meeting Lab, Singapore

“Thailand is very successful for a recovery. What I noticed in Bangkok and Phuket was the resilience of the infrastructure and the people. They have been really ready to kick-off again. The country still has a lot to show. It is the land of smile, the land of tradition, and we have a lot to discover such as history, culture, and of course Thailand’s gastronomy.”

Mr. Daniel Verschaere, Managing Director, Wavestone, France

The event gave all delegates hands-on experience of Thailand’s MICE potential, which will lead to a growth in confidence in the country’s versatility, competitiveness, flexibility, and readiness for future MICE business, which will go a long way to ensure that post-pandemic events held at this world-class destination will be both memorable and successful.
