SMART FARMING: HARNESSING THAILAND'S AGRICULTURE POTENTIAL
Issues such as growing food demand, limited land sources, soaring production costs, water scarcity, labor demand, climate change and nutrition loss continue to plague the world’s food production today. In order to meet the demands of the ever-growing global population, farmers will need to accelerate food production by 70% to feed approximately 10 billion people by 2050, which equates to 2.5 tons of grain per acre. Needless to say, the agriculture industry will undeniably grow to be an indispensable part of the global economy. Prospects for a sustainable future rely on the ability to produce adequate nutritious food for all. As such, the world is gradually building its efforts to realize the Zero Hunger vision as advocated by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This has brought increasing attention to the importance of smart agriculture and smart farming.
